.: HomeHello, and welcome to the website of Alastair "Pookie" Penman. Alastair is a young saxophone, clarinet and ewi player, teacher and performer based in Bucks currently studying at St Catharine's College, Cambridge University having turned down scholarships to the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As well as being a soloist, Alastair also plays in many orchestras and bands, having held positions such as principal saxophonist with the National Youth Wind Orchestra. On this site you can read Alastair's biography, find out about the bands Alastair plays in and hear various demo tracks. You can also book Alastair to play in functions or start saxophone or clarinet lessons. Alastair has recently become involved with two exciting duo pairings - the Rubato Jazz Duo alongside guitarist Ed Lucas is a sax and guitar pairing playing mellow jazz, highly influenced by the likes of Stan Getz and Paul Desmond. In complete contrast, The Penman/Green Duo is the unusual combination of ewi and synth, casting the listener into an entirely new sound world as they play original tunes as well as new takes on jazz standards. N.B., if you are getting a number of annoying pop-ups etc from viewing this site, please click here to view the version without ads.
